Yo-Yo Ma (A Portrait)

Lithograph Print from Limestone, in edition of 75
Size (inches): 40 x 60
Price: $1650
Status: Available for Purchase

Observations:

Rudolf Bikkers' 30 in. x 40 in. (approx 75 cm x 100 cm) portrait of Yo-Yo Ma was created, along with a portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach, in association with Bikkers' From Cello to Stone 9-work project consisting of six unique works (lithographs combined with acrylic painting) interpreting Bach's Cello Suites. In addition, there is a third portrait, a self-portrait of Bikkers. Bikkers, who trained as a cellist simultaneously with his education in visual arts in the Netherlands, has frequently drawn inspiration from music. See also his My Muses, a Visual Offering, a bound set of 20 triptychs (each triptych consisting of a portrait of a composer, an interpretation of a piece of the composer’s music, and a text related to the composer and/or Bikkers’ relationship with him or her). As well, see his portrait of Oscar Peterson, in an edition of 20.
